CS 126: Computer Science I

Thursday lab students, here is the info on how you're going to turn in your lab!

I will come to the lab at the normal class time, even though there is no class, and you can drop it off and do a code demo as needed.

OR

You can come to the Wednesday morning section - same location, Wednesday from 8:30-10:00 AM.  Your fellow classmates will also be turning in their labs and doing demos, so you can join them in the fun!

If you trust in your partner to actually turn it in, you don't need to come, so have a great winter break, and I'll probably see some of you next semester in 136!

All right, in response to the questions a lot of you had specifically in the Wednesday section, here is the information you need to know for lab due dates.  The Minesweeper lab is a two week lab, which means you will have two class periods BEFORE it is due - it will be due at the start of the third class after you started.  Now, because of Thanksgiving week, this means you will all have it due the first week of December.

As for that class period, Dr. Palmer has informed me that he will most likely be adding one more lab, so you should still come to that class, even if you were planning on your partner handing in the lab or doing the demo.

Several people have asked me in lab or on Piazza what's going on regarding the upcoming holidays with the labs.  I've just spoken with Dr. Palmer to confirm, so I can now tell you what's going on.

Just in case any of you aren't aware, this coming Monday - November 11th - is Veteran's day, and the whole school is closed, and the building will be locked.  As such, the Monday section of the lab will not meet this coming week.  The Wednesday and Thursday labs will still be held.

This brings us then to the week of Thanksgiving.  In order to have every get back on the same page, the Wednesday and Thursday labs will not meet during Thanksgiving week.  The Monday lab will still be held.

The first BeanGrinder set is now available.  I fixed the bug that manifested in class and tested each problem (again).  Start early and let me know if you have any problems doing the set.  You shouldn't need to know any Python syntax for this set.

Read the instructions in the "Overview" tab.  Then make the needed changes in the "Editor" tab.  To see if your edits solve the problem click on "Run".  If all of the test come back green then you have solved the problem.  If they come back red, go back to the editor and try to fix what is wrong.
