Piazza is working very well and the students seem to like it.
Piazza is working well for me and my students in Real Analysis I (UBC MATH 320). Thanks for a fun and valuable educational tool.
I've found Piazza incredibly useful as an instructor. A few things that I think contribute most to its success are: 1) Easy to follow layout. Even things like color-coding help tremendously. 2) One student response and one instructor response. This makes it obvious where the real answer is, and simplifies the process. With other types of class discussion boards, students have to search through several posts before finding an answer that might be correct. With Piazza, it's obvious. 3) The ability to post anonymously. I know a lot of students would be intimidated if they had their names attached to their questions. Making the system anonymous allows those who might otherwise be intimidated the chance to ask their questions without fear of judgement.
Instructors can create a Piazza for their class with a single click.
Students and instructors are automatically enrolled with appropriate roles, based on the course roster.
When clicking on Piazza in Blackboard, users are automatically signed in to Piazza, so there's no need to remember a separate user name and password.
