I am teaching a large course on data structures and algorithms this semester, and we really like Piazza for its streamlined and intuitive interface, and its ability to connect our teaching staff to students around the clock. Many questions are answered by fellow students, and we only need to endorse good answers. When students get stuck while working on a project, they can get help quickly without leaving their dorm or their coffee shop. The average response time for our course is 23 minutes. Today in class, I gave out prizes to the five students most active and helpful online.
Piazza is the perfect example of the next generation of teaching and learning tools. By providing an outstanding scalable cloud-hosted service integrated into learning management systems using IMS LTI, it insures that virtually every faculty member can use Piazza regardless of the LMS used by their campus.
Piazza is the most efficient way for students to ask questions, to get answers, and to learn by helping others. It is a reliable, searchable, easy to use, organizable tool for interactive student learning. And the icing on the cake: the staff is very responsive, helpful, and creative.
Instructors can create a Piazza for their class with a single click.
Students and instructors are automatically enrolled with appropriate roles, based on the course roster.
When clicking on Piazza in CTools, users are automatically signed in to Piazza, so there's no need to remember a separate user name and password.
