Those of you graduating this year may find the following link useful :-)
Hope everyone has a great summer!
For those of you returning in the Fall, here's a course you may want to consider taking:
CMSC 498 Introduction to Data Science I covers a wider (some may say more practical) view of managing data, and is intended to complement CMSC 424: Database Design. You'll cover topics like XML, SQL, Map-Reduce, and other approaches to managing data, There will be a fair amount of programming.
Data Science is a hot area of computer science with lots of industry interest, and would look good on your resume if you are applying for jobs.
For more details, see http://www.cs.umd.edu/~amol/cmsc498/index.html
Hope to have final grades assigned by tonight.
Posted the list of new topics on the final exam at http://www.cs.umd.edu/class/spring2014/cmsc430/tests.shtml
Project 4 scores now available on grades server.
As of now, I see several students failing multiple projects. Please make sure that you are getting at least 20 points for each project by noon Wednesday, May 21st, so I can assign final grades for the course Wed afternoon.
Midterms will be graded and returned Tue or Thu.
Course evaluations can now be entered online at https://courseevalum.umd.edu/
This is your chance to provide feedback about the course, so please participate!
