Description
In this course, students will learn principles and practices of basic numerical computation. This is a key aspect of scientific computation. Topics include:
- numerical error and stability
- floating point number systems
- interpolation
- approximation by splines
- differential equations
- fast Fourier transforms
- solution of linear equations
These topics will be presented in the context of specific applications to image processing, analysis of data, and scientific modeling and visualization.
